If you are the kind of person who has a never-ending to-do list and you constantly find yourself busy with one thing or another, the idea of unconditional presence may be a difficult one for you to grasp. For a lot of people, the mere thought of slowing down and enjoying the current moment can bring up a lot of different feelings, including guilt and shame—which are really unconscious blaming messages from our ego-minds that are intended to keep us on the treadmill so that we can get the next task accomplished. The problem is, if we don’t take the time to slow down and smell the roses, as they say, then sooner or later we’ll end up with some kind of break down instead. Our body becomes fatigued, exhausted, sick or diseased because we are effectively driving it into the ground. Strangely, we all seem to know this intuitively, but the knowing isn’t enough to give us pause. And so eventually, we end up on the death-bed with all of the doing behind us, and yet, as someone so astutely observed, no-one in that situation ever wished for time to get one more thing done! But there is hope for everyone, because slowing down into a place of quiet and unconditional presence on a regular basis has many benefits for your health, sanity, and overall well-being. And that’s what we’re going to talk about in this episode of Life Mastery TV. My friend and colleague, Harry Sherwood, is back with more of his amazing, youthful wisdom on this topic, and he’s going to provide all kinds of great suggestions for creating an ongoing practice. What is Karma? The contemporary view seems to be “what goes around comes around”, which implies that you “reap what you sow”. While it sometimes seems that people do indeed get “their just desserts” or “their comeuppance”, as we like to say to each other, it’s also true that many people seem to skate by in life no matter how they show up or what they do. Of course, some people say that the wheel of Karma may take tens, hundreds, or even thousands of years to complete a cycle, so justice may not be served until another lifetime. In this episode of Life Mastery TV, we’re going to take a new look at Karma and try to decipher what it really means. At the same time, we’re going to consider ways that we can make use of our understanding of Karma in our lives. In other words, we are going to learn how to “work our Karma”. To this end, I’ve invited Dr Lynn Anderson—a certified yoga therapist, Karma Yoga master and fitness professional—to join me and share some of her expertise on the subject. Sovereignty is a natural born right to freedom and self-determination. Unfortunately, what commonly happens to most of us in the first few years of our lives is a process of “education” that actually undermines the sovereignty that we are born with. This process begins with our parents and caregivers, and then becomes the domain of our teachers, ministers, law enforcement officials, government leaders, and other “experts” and “authorities” who claim to know more than we do. Because we care about our family, friends and communities, most of us work hard to fit in with society, to avoid making waves, and to just get along—for the greater good. And then, years later, many of us wake up to the fact that we don’t really know who we are or why we are here, and we become disillusioned or resentful about our lives. Clearly, sacrificing our true nature in order to live up to externally established standards doesn’t serve us in the long run. While it’s important for all of us to adhere to the laws of the land and honor the boundaries of our fellow humans, there is no reason for us to lose our true selves in the process. We owe it to ourselves to reclaim our birthright and step fully into our sovereignty. For this week’s episode of Life Mastery TV, I have invited a true Kung Fu priest, Accolon Hollingsworth, to join me. Accolon has studied the way of Kung Fu, and has brought the discipline of this martial art into the realm of spirituality.
