Our family of origin significantly influences our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors. Family dynamics offer us opportunities to grow and mature…or not!
The way we learn to relate through family dynamics provides us with an “on-the-court” experience to discover who we truly are and to explore the depth of love, truth and power inherently within us. As we become adults and our souls awaken, the challenge many of us face is deciding what to keep and what to release when it comes to what we have learned in childhood from our family. Even if we grew up in conscious, loving, and healthy households, we may still need to grapple with family wounds and patterns.
Parting ways with blind loyalty may cause conflict and disruption. If you are the one who speaks up and stands up for yourself by setting and maintaining healthy boundaries, you may conclude that you are an outcast, at least at first.
Being the seeker, the truth teller or cycle breaker in the family is not for the faint of heart. Honoring ourselves while holding love and respect for others can be tricky when it comes to family, especially when we’re navigating challenging personalities, stressful events and even toxic and abusive behavior.
This month, the Soul Empowerment team considers what’s possible in relationship through inner work, spiritual enlightenment and behavioral change. While our primary focus in this conversation has to do with our relationships to our families, we’ll also look at how our other relationships are affected.
Come join us for the live discussion, and learn some tools for shifting into a new way of being from a place of love.
* Family Dynamics. These can be affected by the characters in the family as well as circumstances that arise and how each individual deals with them.
* Relationships. How are our adult relationships impacted by our family relationships? Let’s consider all the angles:
• Your parents and their relationship with you
• Your grandparents and their relationships to their children, parents, aunts, and uncles
• Your siblings and your relationships with them
We are all unique beings who bring something different to the family table!
* Acceptance. What does this really mean? Do we accept bad, rude, thoughtless, or inconsiderate behavior? Or is this about accepting people for who they are while setting healthy boundaries to let them know that, as much as we love them, there are things we will not tolerate.
* Shifting Relationships. What happens in your relationships as you change and grow? What is the impact of your growth on the relationship itself or on the other participants in the relationship? Many people struggle with this issue.
